To "Its No Wonder", The teachers at Skaith have every right to be upset at the possibility of an apartment complex going in within the school boundaries. If its the teacher that I saw on the news...I love her, she's wonderful and I am proud to call her my son's teacher. As with Dr. Martz, he is an awesome principal. Skaith will undergo A LOT of changes if all of the proposed school expansions go through. Its hard enough for our kids to get the one on one attention that they need for there to be a connection between the teacher and the student. There should be a law or city ordinance that if you build a large complex like this that will bring 400+ households into a school district, they should have to build the school too. Our schools are overcrowded as it is. My kids have gone to Skaith for the past 6 years, its where I went to school. They are transfer students however and may now be on the chopping block if this proposed apartment complex is built. Please re-think this!!!
I know, my previous comment had nothing to do with the Civil Rights Initiative. What I know is that most of the people who sit around and complain because a person of another race, gender or religion got a promotion, didn't even apply for the position in the first place. Stop complaining about how life isn't fair, do a good job, have some faith and quit worrying about how much someone else has. If you want a better job, ask for it. If it takes more training, get it.
when my son asked me in church why God made the black man sitting behind us the wrong color, I explained to him that God didn't make him a "wrong" color, he made us special and unique. I thought I was doing a bad job as a parent to have my 3 yr old son questioning the color of a man's skin. I stopped and asked him what color he thought everyone should be and he said, loud and proud... "PURPLE WITH PINK POLKA-DOTS"
What is more cruel... a family dog that has needlessly suffered by getting hit by a train because their owners didn't put him on a leash? Or an Animal Control Officer who is doing his job and getting just a little bit tired of being made out to be the bad guy all the time? Rick Smith is absolutely right about this situation. It was preventable. The owners didn't even want the body to bury it themselves. Pay the fine and be done with it.
I am proud of my boys being involved in Boy Scouts. I didn't realize that we had a pack like this in our area. KUDOS Jason!!! I as a mom of a child with cerebral palsy look for opportunities to get my son involved in activities that will boost his self-esteem and confidence. The Boy Scouts organization is full of men who take time out of their lives to help teach these young people how to grow up to be men.
I'm not beating a dead horse here but what is the point of all of the alcohol? Can't people just go, have fun, listen to some excellent jazz and enjoy themselves?
if they have a job, they have to produce a social security number, they can buy one on the street for $500, present it to their employer, pay taxes on that number but when they file taxes, the IRS kicks it back out and says that the name doesn't match the name they have for that number. I'm sure there are ways to get around it but the IRS is pretty good about who they have to issue refunds to. One reminder, people need to check their credit reports annually to make sure that no one is using their social security number illegally and check the earnings reports that you get from the social security office. If they don't match, please call them, someone may be using your social security number.
It was not intended as an attack of the deceased. This article did not say accidental death, it says suicide. As someone who has lost several family members to suicide, I know first hand the pain and devastation to the surviving family. I hope for the family's sake that it was not intentional. If it was, please know that you are not alone, they have support groups and you will need the love and support of people who are dealing with the same feelings.
It's your call, May 18, 2008

Preschool program focuses on inclusion
Good job Dylan and Ashleigh!
It's unfortunate that not all parents are open to an experience like this as Ms. Chambers.

Mother, volunteer and coach, she inspires greatness
Thank you Kathy, we need more people like you! Special Olympics is new to me. Its our first year of participating and it definitely won't be the last!
If people would help each other more instead of complaining all the time, they might find that they have less to complain about.
