Sarah, you hit the nail on the head with Stjoemikey. I'm pretty sure he's from the Youth Alliance and his position is funded by the same grant providing funding for this training. The grant is due to expire in a year and he probably needs to show that he has done something with the grant (passed local legislation, decreased underage drinking, etc.) in order for the funding to be reinstated. He's spreading this propaganda because his job is on the line. But this is just "what I've heard."

Well, at least the St. Joseph Youth Alliance used a car that had actually been in an alcohol-related accident this time.

Joetowner, I don't recall Strong commending Brian Carter on what he did.

I'm NOT a Strong supporter. I don't like what Strong done since he's been in office, I think he's wasteful and corrupt, and I will NOT be voting for him.

All I'm saying is Brian does not need to be put up on a pedestal either. He did something wrong and was punished - end of story.

Why was my comment deleted? All I said is this isn't the truth. Brian Carter filed for the sheriff's position AFTER he was informed that disciplinary action would be sought in this case.

Editors at News-Press: Instead of wasting time deleting my posts, why don't you find out the dates and see for yourself?

Joetowner: ["He stands behind and does the best for his employees."

Yeah, like commending them on a hot and heavy pursuit until that person decides to file against you, and then you punish them for said actions until they are left no option but to resign from the department. ]

Really? Do you believe that to be true? Brian Carter filed to run for sheriff AFTER he investigation began, because he knew he was in trouble and thought he could save his job if he was elected.

I am so tired of hearing about how Carter's disciplinary action was politically motivated. He violated department policy and was punished - end of story! Ask anyone at the sheriff's department - Carter found out he was being investigated regarding the chase incident and, as a last-chance effort to save his job, he filed to run for sheriff.

I'm surprised Carter is leaving law enforcement. If he was SERIOUS about being sheriff, I wouldn't think he would be so quick to leave law enforcement all together.

Either way, I'd like to wish Carter good luck in the construction and real estate business in the today's economy. He's going to need it!

Yeah, joetowner, it sounds like a comment that came from a sore loser. :)

On Strong, Higdon win sheriff primary races

Dick Townsend, thank you very much for your letter. We appreciate your honesty. It is important that Buchanan County question Brian Carter's credibility and leadership skills. He lists his experience with Hazmat as one of his largest leadership positions, but I am yet to hear anyone who viewed him as a good leader in this position. (I would also like to mention he was only involved with Hazmat for ONE year - look on www.carter08.com). If I were Brian, I would have been embarassed to even list Hazmat as experience. He wasn't there long enough to gain actual leadership experience and no one has said a single good thing about him who dealt with him with Hazmat-related tasks.

Stjoeaccount, you didn't say anything rude. Thunder86, did you ever thing he or she might be being sincere? Haha, nevermind... obviously thunder86 was thinking the same thing to take it as being rude...

Yep, it looks like Brian and Rick are both going to be looking for jobs soon. I'll be happy when August 5th is over and Brian is out of the race.

Brian, just admit it - this campaign IS self-seeking. You want to keep your job, and after you found out that you were going to be in trouble for the pursuit, you hurried up and entered the sheriff's race. Face it - the reason you still HAVE a job is politically based. If Mike Strong would have fired you like he should have, you would have cried fowl. Little did Mike know, you were still going to be a cry-baby. You're not fooling anyone except "Camp Carter." Everyone knows you're phony. If you were smart, you would have pulled out a long time ago.

Joetowner, I couldn't have said it better.

Also, Brian Carter is NOT a college graduate. He went to the police academy. He is NOT a graduate of the criminal justice program at Missouri Western. I'm not sure if that was a typo or a miscommunication, but I thought you should all know that.

Besides, Brian can't stick with anything for longer than 2 or 3 years, and a college degree would have taken 4 years.

One last thing...I'm sure being a volunteer Sunday school teacher will give you the edge over the rest...that and your 2-3 years of experience with your other volunteer work. Haha... It will give you the edge over candidates with as many years of experience as you have had birthdays!!!

Good luck, Brian Carter. You're going to need it!!
