What has the stimulus done?

The paper should put down that water bucket it's carrying for the Obama administration and tell the truth about the real unemployment numbers in Buchanan County.
The release of the article coinciding with the public relations campaign from the White House is proof of the talking points position the paper has taken in contrast to the general opinions of their readers.
No jobs were created, the seasonal nature of the staffing levels at construction companies can always be used a tool to falsify new job growth, but it provides no comfort to those people looking for work. The stimulus bill is a bust, $300 billion so far down a hole into earmarks for democrats in congress. And the money, all borrowed and at very high rates.
Shame on the paper for printing this concoction of optimism and half truths. We understand that you feel invested in this adminstration, but some bets just don't pay off, sorry.

High-speed rail in Missouri to get boost

If this was a good idea, then private enterprise would have done it. Who is going to be in charge of this whizbang affair ? Amtrak ? They have never made a dime.
It is a big fat government scheme to spend money they don't have, create more bureacracy, and saddle the future generations with more taxes. What a joke ! To watch Nixon try to hop on this high-speed disaster is something we should remember every election. Call Warren Buffett and ask him if there is any way this would return dollar one.

Our opinion: Mosque a bridge to city

Religious freedom for a group that practices clitorectomies, stones women, commits honor killing, hangs gay people, believes in jihad, and ultimately will ask that sharia law be observed ?

Whose money would pay for this ? How many members ? Will women be allowed to worship with the men ? Will gays be allowed to join ?

No thanks, we came to this country to leave those medieval ideas.

Local museum attendance booming

Marsh
If the St Joe Museum is the only tax supported museum in town, then the Nature Center is supported by the St Joe Museum as we donate a large portion of the Museum levy proceeds to them.
Bit murky on the clarifications there.

Flooding in St. Joseph not a risk yet

Anyone with an internet link can track the potential for flooding. (1)
http://waterdata.usgs.gov/mo/nwis/uv/...
will tell you where the level is and(2)
http://www.crh.noaa.gov/ahps2/hydrogr...
will give you the same info plus the forecast for a week (3) you can also watch Rulo levels which are about 12 hours ahead of local impact.
Must be a slow news day when chicken little comes out.

Foster's owner doesn't deserve negative publicity

It's called an earmark, or more commonly known as "pork barrel spending". What it means is that it is usually wasteful, I think it's time we called Graves on this one and asked why a fiscal conservative like himself would promote this kind of spending. Why didn't they just have a policy whereby federal, state, and county offices had to occupy downtown space. It's warm bodies that will make downtown prosperous. Maybe new light fixtures in the Post Office/Federal Building instead of renting next to Panera ?

Obama's hesitancy sends messages

This guy can't even bring himself to recognize a terrorist act at Ft Hood, much less trying to win a war in Afghanistan. He just agreed to let Khalid Sheikh Muhammad be tried as a US citizen ! He is dithering and coddling the islamist killers that lust for our blood. Why ? Differentiating himself from Geo Bush for what reason ?
The guy is an amateur, almost laughable. Almost as funny as thinking the BBC is a place for news. That's the best one today. On the other hand, the News press reliance on the AP makes it look like just another sycophant leftist rag. It could stand outside the bathroom and cheer Obama for whatever he produces. Blind, deaf , and unable to smell.

Report says premiums outpace paychecks

love the ad below selling health insurance !!
dont love the talking points articles though, but yours paled by comparison to the AP article by Ben Evans that blamed the death panel portions of the healthcare reform bill to the Republicans. that's rich ! even you must have chuckled at that, if not, then you need to get up on the other side of the bed.
it's kos has taken over the paper, somebody must be in wismo for this junk to get through...........

Heartland getting out of insurance business

these are smart people who should be able to take the millions of dollars sitting around a non-profit and find a solution that shows everyone why national health plans would be such a disaster. the times demand it and their experience should count for something. let's see it guys !

Legal experts stress Sotomayor's credentials

Susan
Legal experts ??
Why did both of the articles about Sotomayor neglect to mention her liberal activism ?
Pretty sure that Thomas,Scalia,Roberts, and Alito were constantly referred to as conservative by the MSM.
So we have Anita Hill's lawyer as head of DHS, even though there wasn't a case.
Finding legal experts is going to be a very elusive task for the Obama admin or you. But expert isn't the quality required, just empathy and a liberal outlook.
They have already thrown the Constitution under the bus with the Chrysler "bankruptcy", so I guess institutionalizing this empathy and patronage of the friends will take the place of law and due process.
So sad that the NPG can only represent so few of its readers.
